Florida State Parks, Falling Waters State Park, Chipley, FL

Falling Waters State Park

Falling Waters is located about 90 miles west of Tallahassee, FL in the heart of the FL panhandle. The special feature here are the giant sink holes that dot the area. Florida largest water fall is located here. The waters of a small stream cascade down the walls of a giant sink hole creating a very rare natural wonder that is unique to Florida. The park has a beautiful man made lake with a beach where visitors can swim and cool off in the refreshing waters. We have been to this park before however it is a great place to stop off and camp out when we are heading out west. The campsites are nicely shaded with electric and water. The restrooms and bath houses are new and well maintained.

Our neighbor, Greg Lane, set up a ham radio system to practice for a upcoming field trip with his club. I took pictures of his setup which was quite impressive with 30 foot polls with wires between them to transmit and receive his signals. During our camping trips we meet all sorts of interesting people with various interests. That is what makes camping out so special. A big part of the experience is the people you meet.
